Welcome to the latest edition of our supporter magazine, Catalyst!
Spring is one of our favourite seasons, with all the signs of new life and this year in particular, we will all welcome spring with open arms! I don’t think any of us this time last year could have imagined what this past year would hold. The one thing that has kept us going throughout the year is that sense of hope. In the midst of the despair, we have seen some really amazing things happen: communities coming together like never before, a massive rise in foodbanks being established to meet the needs of those in poverty and people asking for answers to important life questions. In Church Army, we have continued and grown our frontline work over the year, believing that Church Army was made for times like these. Our 300 evangelists, together with our other frontline staff , have been working in new and creative ways to effectively support their communities. If you haven’t had the opportunity to look at some of our Covid-19 Diaries, please do. We hope they will inspire you too.
In this edition of Catalyst, you will find information about our free training resources. Many thousands of people have already benefited from completing the Faith Pictures course and we have added some new ones to build on that. It is our hope that through these, we will help you to reach out to your communities too. We also say goodbye to our Chief Executive, Des Scott, as he retires after 30 years with Church Army. We hear from Des as he reflects on his journey with Church Army, and that by stepping out in faith and, with the help and encouragement of others, we can begin to realise our potential.
We also want to thank you all for your prayers, your financial support and your encouragement. We have seen these in abundance over the last 12 months. Many charities were facing funding crises, but you have been amazing and because of that, together we have been able to make a real difference. We hope you will continue your partnership with us, so that together we can play our part in building the Kingdom through words and action.
